The other day while we were doing the dishes together I asked Tom, "What if we would have met in our 20s instead of waiting until the latter half of our 60s? I wonder what our relationship would have been like?" After a moment of reflection he expressed, "It would have been much different because I had some lessons that I needed to learn. I wouldn't have been ready for you." Then with a deep sigh I took a look in the rear view mirror at my life. I, too, had important growth to do at that age and beyond. It took me 65 years of discovery to be truly ready for a love such as ours. To love fully, joyfully and unconditionally is a pinnacle experience. No wonder we are so happy every day, simply being together. So, I guess I'm sharing this publicly because I'm seeing an important message here that may be applicable to most everyone. Where ever you are on your journey, it's perfectly fine! It's all about learning and growing. Let's all make a promise to be super kind and loving to ourselves as we live these phenomenal human experiences. It's all very good!! Wedding photo credit: Ellen Gustafson Photography |
